All speeches must provide scientific and/or historical evidence for the Christian faith and/or the Bible. The evidence must be from sources other than the Bible. Speakers are not required to identify as a Christian,but speeches must support the topic.

Contestants must be 11-18 years old on the day of the event. 

Speeches must be between 4 and 6 minutes. Three judges will evaluate the speeches on: 

Content: 30 points  

Information demonstrates research and understanding of the information. The content stays on topic and reflects information from sources other than the Bible. Specific information and/or quotes are accurate and credited to the correct person(s). 

Delivery: 25 points  

Speech is clearly and seamlessly articulated. The speaker is confident and knowledgeable, demonstrates eye contact and connects with the audience, and may use gestures to emphasize important points. Speakers are allowed to use visual and audio aids, but these additions do not necessarily improve their score. 

Originality: 15 points  

Information and/or presentation promote new insight and understanding. 

Inspirational: 15 points  

Information and/or presentation promote positive emotions and/or action. 

Overall effectiveness: 15 points  

The speaker’s appearance, words, and performance demonstrate excellence. 

Disqualifications: The speech does not represent the assigned topic, includes significant plagiarism, includes significant incorrect information, or includes little or no evidence from sources other than the Bible. 

Point Deductions: A speaker is allowed to discuss beliefs held by others that the speaker disagrees with, but the speaker must maintain a respectful tone toward others and their ideas (# of points depends on level of disrespect), over/under time (1 point per 10 seconds), inaccurate information (5 points)
